Yellow Brix Restaurant

"Ok this is the spot in Carlsbad so obviously we had to see what the hype was about. Super cute indoor outdoor situation, live music, chill aesthetic, great energy. Staff was wonderful and on it the whole time. But the food… whew. I ordered the vegan tacos and props for having separate vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free menus, love that, just make sure you ask for them. The guac needed some life, like lime, salt, anything to wake it up. Chips were decent but a little oily. Tacos were fine but bland, zero spice, and I’m side eyeing how those veggies were cooked because something felt off. Unsweetened iced tea was solid and refills stayed coming so no complaints there. My husband got the Tuscan chicken pasta and fully tapped out, said it was rubbery and tasted like old frozen food. Didn’t finish it, which says a lot. They do have Tapatio though so small win. Honestly feels like a place you go for drinks, wine, and live music, not the food."

"Yellow Brix is a magical little restaurant in the heart of Carlsbad. We have never had any food we did not like. Their salads and crepes are top notch. That outdoor seating area is beautiful and zen. Even though it is close the traffic on 285 you can carry on a conversation at normal decibels and be able to hear who you are talking with. But the best part is their staff. My husband and I take bets on what will be messed up because of many terrible experiences by wait staff in other places, it seems to be a New Mexico thing that we discovered moving here. The restaurant has great waitstaff. The staff was attentive and understood what needed to be done and in what order. We love Bo and Kelly. We've never worry or play the 'What thing will the waitstaff mess up today.' Game when we go to Yellow Brix. Easily one of my favorite restaurants in Carlbad."

"To find two great local restaurants in one day is very rare. It happened today Yellow Brix is wonderful. Beautiful patio with trees. spacious tables inside. A great mix of flavors all cooked to perfection. I had the Carne Asada generous portions. Splurged on the loaded mash potatoes. My wife loved their Chicken Parmesan. Side salads not made with iceberg lettuce."

"We were traveling from Carlsbad Cavern and sort the night in Carlsbad. Our hotel recommended Yellow Brix and we are super happy they did. It was excellent. The food was delicious and our server, Phillip, was absolutely wonderful. He tended to our every need. He recommended the Brussels sprouts with steak tips on top and it was amazing. I would absolutely come back and recommend to everyone."
